June is Bike Month in Surrey, BC. It's a very good month too! Grab your bikes, and head out to these events! June 1-30 Cycling Passport Come to 8 spin classes (registered to drop-in) in the month of June and enter to win a fitness prize pack! Info: 604-502-6064 Location: Guildford Recreation Centre Thursday June 5th Time: 5:30pm-8:00pm Location: Cloverdale Recreation Centre For: Everyone Cost: FREE Description: Pedal to the Cloverdale Recreation Centre and join in our Family Bike & Safety Fair. Learn about bike safety and the health benefits of cycling. Make a child ID kit, watch marital arts demo's and more! For Information: 604-502-6402 2 Transition Riders will also be there! Saturday: June 7th Junkyard Dog XC Race 10am-1pm South Surrey Bike Park The race starts at 10 am with a frantic mass start leading into the road course with a leg burning climb that spits you out into a tight, twisting circuit of technical singletrack. All this takes place in the South Surrey Bike Park; home of the Junkyard DJ's. Roadies Beware - despite the location, the Junkyard Dog XC is no 'Ride in the Park'. It's a log strewn, grunt fest that will leave you barking like a Pit Bull and foaming at the mouth. Proceeds from the race benefit the Surrey Off Road Cycling Enthusiasts Society (SORCE) in their youth programs and continuing trail development at the South Surrey Bike Park. Who: Licensed and Non-Licensed Racers welcome! Foreign Racers: must hold current UCI license (sorry!) Cost: Race Fee $30 or $35 depending on category, download the registration form for all the details Register before June 1 to avoid late fees. When: Race Starts at 10:00 am Package pickup runs day of race from 8:00 am and ends at 9:30 am sharp Trail Map:   Saturday June 8th Rick Hansen Wheels in Motion 12-3:00pm South Surrey Athletic Park Wheels in Motion is an important part of the Rick Hansen Foundation's ongoing commitment to making Canadian communities accessible and inclusive for people of all abilities. Friday June 13th Bike Bike Prgram for Stroke- Employee Wellness Program 12-1pm King's Cross Shopping Centre Parking lot. King George HWY, 74th Ave. Come out and cheer the City of Surrey employees as they ride the 29-seat big bike to raise funds for the continued research and health promotion of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of B.C. and Yukon Saturday June 14th Fleetwood Family Bike Safety Hour 3-4pm Fleetwood Community Centre Don't miss this fun, jam-packed hour of bike safety activites. Get prepared for summer riding by brining your bike by and checking out the obstacle course. Learn about bike maintenance, have your helmet checked plus anti-theft engraving onsite and prizes! Saturday June 21 7th Annual Surrey Bike Fest! 10-5pm South Surrey Bike Park SORCE mountain bike club (Surrey Off-Road Cycling Enthusiasts Society) is proud to present their seventh annual Surrey Bike Fest. This festival is the only one of its kind in the South Fraser Region and is part of BC Bike Month. All ages welcome. All proceeds benefit SORCE trail work, Team SORCE and their Youth Cycling Programs in cooperation with the Elgin Park Secondary SPOKE Race Team. sweet Surrey is working on there transportation issues. Now all they need to do is sort out the masses of east-indo gangs who ruin every may long weekand in whistler
Too bad there isn't one event worth going to... Now if they would upgrade a skatepark or something for bike month...
